Eating To Live

[box_holder background_color=”]

G’day everyone!

Welcome to my little blog about Health. Before I get to yapping about all things health related, please allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Candice Torres, you can call me Candy. I am from the land down under, Australia. A few of my favourite things to do involve riding kangaroos to the shop, wrestling with crocodiles, and hanging out in my backyard known as the ‘bush’, while I munch on a few Eucalyptus leaves with my pet Koalas… Sounds fun right? Just kidding. I have done none of the above, nor do I think it is even possible. Well, except for wrestling Crocodiles, which a few brave souls might do. To be honest with you, some of my favourite things include, fruit smoothies and juicing, the beach, nature, a good tune, a good story, and of course my loved ones. Speaking of love, I am married to the wonderful Marcos Torres (Author of the Gospel blog here on Haystack). I am a mother of two very active, strong-willed, feisty and fierce little boys aged one and three. I swear they take much pleasure in ensuring my day is filled with noise, chaos, boogers, poop, and anything else that leaves me breathless by the time my head hits the pillow at night…if it does. I really do adore them and I am incredibly blessed. I am madly in love with Jesus. He rescued me, He saved me, and He changes me (I am always a work in progress). Last but not least, I am a student in the Bachelor of Health Science (Nutritional Medicine) program. I am so excited to share my knowledge with you as I learn and go through this journey of understanding the value of Nutritional Medicine, as well as God’s ideal for our health to ensure we each have a healthy body and a healthy mind so we can better serve God and others in our community. What inspired me to study Nutritional Medicine? Apart from the obvious benefits of eating properly, my own story has greatly inspired me. Weight has always been a struggle for me. I have seen the scale rise and fall, over and over and over. I have felt depressed and insecure over my health, and since having children (especially boy number two) the battle to lose the baby weight has been real! Although I have never been obese or severely overweight, my body has been unhealthy and it is not fun. However, we have the opportunity to learn and grow and inform ourselves of a better way of eating and living which is what this blog is all about.

Now that you know a little about me, feel free to introduce yourself, what your hopes are from this blog, and any words of encouragement as we learn together how to take care of the body, the mind, and the soul, that God has so wonderfully given to us.

Hello. My name is Kermit. I don't actually write for the Haystack. In fact, I have never eaten a haystack. I eat flies. I think those are unclean. And I date a pig too. Miss Piggy. She's nice.

On any note, just remember that this is a guest account and that all the views expressed within are those of the guest authors and do not necessarily represent Bye-bye!
