While the internet has allowed us to experience connectivity like never before in human history, it has also resulted in a somewhat ironic amount of isolation. While you and I can engage in discussions with people, digest amazing content, and see all that’s going on in the world, it’s also often true that we do this from the comfort of home. In doing so, we often trade the possibility of tangible interactions for the guarantee of digital ones. This is not to say that digital interactions are not just as genuine or authentic as face-to-face ones are, but it does leave us trying to figure out what to do next with the information we gather while online.
With that being said, I am excited to bring you The Dip Podcast, the official re-launched podcast of the Haystack! On The Dip we dive into the local church level throughout the North American Division to find young adults and ministry leaders who are doing intentional young adult ministry. By sharing their experiences, we are connecting you with ministries that already exist and giving you ideas, stories, and lessons so you can find and create new ways to live your faith in your context. We can’t tell you how to live your faith in your context, but we can point to others who are navigating those waters for themselves and let you know it’s possible for you, too.
Each episode is between 20-40 minutes and focuses very specifically on the experiences, lessons learned, and hardships overcome by a plethora of individuals all fulfilling the calling they’ve received. This isn’t a podcast about theological discussion. It’s not meant to solve all the problems or answer all the questions you have about God and doctrine. We aren’t dealing in the theoretical or existential and we aren’t here to stir up controversy. We are dealing with the practical. What are you doing today that can set you up for success for tomorrow? What are the tools God has already gifted you with to accomplish His calling for your life? What can you do to change your circumstances? We hope to help you answer these questions and encourage you to chase after what God has placed on your heart with all you’re made of!
We believe this will help all of us bridge the gap between our digital interactions and our tangible ministries. It gives you the opportunity to hear from people who may have had a similar struggle to you, or may have found a key to moving forward against all odds. With two episodes releasing each month on the second and fourth Tuesday, we want to give you a steady stream of positive content while not overbearing you with a list of episodes to catch up on.

So who is hosting it? Well, that would be me! I’m Ryan Becker, a pastor in South Carolina. I’m in my mid-20s, so I know firsthand what it’s like to struggle with both figuring out what God wants you to do with your life and learning how to not only survive, but thrive on your own. I know what it’s like to search for a spiritual “home” and not find one, and I know what it’s like to fight the urge to stay inside and binge Netflix (full disclosure: I lose that fight more often than I’d like to admit). I know what it’s like to avoid checking your bank account because you just know there’s a negative number in there somewhere. I have a passion for connecting people with the passions God has placed on their hearts and equipping people to do effective and lasting ministry. While I may not have experienced your journey, I live my own every day and I’m glad to share any and all of it with you as we move forward together. I’m privileged to be hosting The Dip Podcast and I can’t wait to see how God will lead from here.
